BWBR, TCHEA to Host National Expert on Health Care Facilities

Chad Beebe, AIA, SASHE, the deputy executive director of advocacy at the American Society for Healthcare Engineering, will present the 2014 FGI Guideline Updates as part of the Twin City Healthcare Engineering Association monthly meeting at BWBR.

Beebe is a national authority on the development of regulations for the design and construction of health care facilities. His presentation will provide an overview of the major changes in the 2014 edition of the Guidelines related hospitals and outpatient facilities. Beebe will shed light on the effects and intent of the changes and discuss opportunities for future revisions. CEUs will be available.

In addition to his role with ASHE, Beebe is a certified fire protection specialist, a certified healthcare facility manager, and a certified building official. He serves on many national panels and committees that develop regulations for the design and construction of health care facilities.

Beebe is a highly active member of the National Fire Protection Association and of the Health Guidelines Revision Committee (HGRC), the multidisciplinary body responsible for updating the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities. He is a member of the HGRC Steering Committee and is a principal member of the Technical Correlating Committee for NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code.

From 1999 to 2010, Beebe served as the authority having jurisdiction for the Washington State Department of Health and managed its Construction Review Services program, which is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of all health care-related facilities in the state, including board and care facilities, nursing homes, and hospitals.

He was honored by receiving ASHE’s Regional Leader Award and became the first AHJ to receive a leadership award from the American Hospital Association.
